I often think we are all in the process of creating a movie about our lives, a movie where hopefully we are the hero and if it is my movie I am hopefully  about two thirds the way from the end. When you think of your life as a movie, you get to view it from the outside. It will bring clarity, help you understand your feelings, and allow you to see what was happening in the world around you. Don’t Bite Off More Than You Can Chew

Retirement, by any name, is suppose to be a little more relaxed, less stress and lots of “me” time. Right?  As I thought about where my life was at the end of 2017 and as I looked at my ever growing to do/want to do list, I realized there is still lots of stress in my life. Not like it was in my work life, but it is there. Maybe it is a case of taking on too much, after all I used to regularly work 10+ hour days, I am in good shape, relatively, I have made good progress on eating right, I think, so why not take on more? 101 Awesome Things #8 – Volunteer

My wife and I just finished volunteering at our local community Winter Carnival for, we think, the 21st year. This community event is run by volunteers and it just celebrated its 50th  anniversary. It is a big undertaking with a core group of about 20 people from the community that put in countless hours to put on this event. This  core group of people volunteer year after year and they are not getting any younger. We wonder where the next group of volunteers will be coming from?
