101 Awesome Things #4-The Beauty Of Taking A Nap

Gerry and I were in Kitchener earlier this week giving an early morning talk on VLR and afterward we both went home to enjoy a quick little recovery nap. It was simply awesome being able to do this and it’s a shame that napping is frowned upon in our workaholic Western culture. Even the Contessa looks down upon it and associates it with being lazy so between just you and me I practice what I call “stealth napping” and it’s a beautiful thing. Victory Lap Retirement Is All About Values Based Living Part 3 of 3

While on the George at some point I always start thinking about how many good years I have left. I’m sure this is triggered while thinking about Bill who at age 84 has been making the annual pilgrimage to the George for the past 35 years. One year I know his string of visits will be broken and the thought of going there and not seeing him saddens me but that unfortunately is how life works.

Victory Lap Retirement Is All About Values Based Living (Part 2 of 3)

One of the keys to creating a fulfilling Victory Lap is being self-aware. Being aware of what is important to you will provide clarity for what matters to you and what makes you feel good. To accomplish this we need to understand our values and what motivates us.

Victory Lap Retirement Is All About Values Based Living

My fishing guide Patrick finally came out of the bush and sent me some pictures that were taken when I was up on The George in September. My own pictures were destroyed when I fell in the river and lost everything on my iPhone, second time that has happened to me! I carry a small notepad in my fishing vest so I can jot down random thoughts whenever they materialize. It also got wet from the dunking but thankfully I was still able to make out most of my thoughts that I had recorded.
